Woman arrested for making threats with knife

A 19-year-old Stock Island, Florida woman was arrested Thursday after threatening a man and child with a knife. There were no life-threatening injuries reported.

Bricia Maylin Moreno-Deleon was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery, and child neglect. 

The Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence on Maloney Avenue at approximately 6:15 p.m. regarding a domestic issue.  The suspect and the victims — a 42-year-old male and his 6-year-old son — were present.

The victim stated he was attempting to leave with his son when Moreno-Deleon bit him on the back. He then locked himself and the juvenile in a vehicle outside the residence. 

Moreno-Deleon grabbed a knife, attempted to get inside the van, and stated she was going to kill them both. She was taken to jail.

Man arrested on fentanyl charges

A 65-year-old Big Pine Key, Florida man was arrested Thursday after a large amount of fentanyl was found. 

Robert Steven Sackett was charged with trafficking fentanyl, tampering with evidence, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and smuggling contraband into a detention facility.

Sackett was arrested in Marathon at approximately 12:50 p.m. following a traffic stop for speeding on U.S.1 in which marijuana, marijuana vape pens, and drug paraphernalia were found. He was subsequently taken to the jail on Stock Island.

Sackett dropped a bag containing approximately one ounce of fentanyl in the jail intake area and attempted to conceal it by kicking it away from his immediate area.

Bureau of Corrections Deputies quickly found the drugs as well as a knife concealed in Sackett’s belt. He was booked into jail thereafter.
