Woman arrested for drugs following traffic stop

A 55-year-old Big Pine Key woman was arrested Thursday night after chocolate bars containing mescaline and psilocybin were found following a traffic stop.

Angela Ann Grillo was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputy Brandon White stopped a Hyundai at approximately 10:25 p.m. for not stopping at a red light at the Chapman Street and U.S. 1 intersection on Big Pine Key.

The driver and sole occupant, Grillo, appeared nervous and gave conflicting stories as to where she was coming from.

Traffic Enforcement Unit Deputy Aaron Roddy responded with K9 Mako. K9 Mako alerted to drugs in the car.

White powder inside a credit card wallet field-tested positive for cocaine. A half-eaten chocolate bar and five more unopened chocolate bars were found, all of which field-tested positive for mescaline and psilocybin. Two small plastic bags containing a brown substance that field-tested positive for mescaline was also found.

Grillo was taken to jail.
