On March 12th, the Key West Police Department Special Investigations Unit made contact with a suspicious vehicle on the 1300 block of Simonton Street. Patrol officers also arrived to assist. K9 Cayo alerted to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle, and a subsequent search revealed seven individually packaged bags of a white substance that tested for cocaine.
Jennifer Anne Lyda, 52, attempted to throw the baggies of cocaine under the vehicle. She was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Detention Center. Lyda was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and evidence tampering.
