Woman arrested after knife incident

A 28-year-old Stock Island woman was arrested early Sunday morning after confronting her neighbors with a kitchen knife.

Anastasiia Torna was charged with three counts of aggravated assault.

There were no reported injuries.

The case began at approximately 1:30 a.m. when the Sheriff’s Office responded to an apartment complex on the 6300 block of 2nd Street on Stock Island. Three victims stated Torna came over to their apartment looking for her boyfriend. They stated she was screaming and using profanities. The victims stated her boyfriend had been there, but left previously. They added Torna left only to return with a six-inch kitchen knife. They stated she was screaming while holding the knife in the common walkway area.

Once of the victims showed Deputy Michael Watkins a cell phone video of the incident.

Deputy Watkins found Torna in a neighboring apartment unit. She claimed one of the victims hit her and she armed herself in self-defense, though she showed no signs of being struck. Deputy Watkins noted her story changed several times.

Torna was taken to jail.
