‘Warm Springs’ Will Screen at the Custom House Museum on Tuesday, November 22

Tuesday, November 22, at 6 p.m., ‘Warm Springs’ will be screened in the Helmerich Research & Learning Center on the third floor of the Custom House Museum, 281 Front Street.

The multi-Emmy winning 2005 film stars Kenneth Branagh as Franklin Delano Roosevelt during his pre-presidency struggle with polio and the personal transformation that commenced upon his discovery of the warm mineral waters of Warm Springs, Georgia – where he eventually established the world’s first polio rehabilitation center – and the other disabled people he encounters there.

Key West Art & Historical Society film series offerings generally alternate on Thursdays with the Society’s Distinguished Speaker Series, but is scheduled on Tuesday this month due to the Thanksgiving holiday. “Warm Springs” follows the November 17 Distinguished Speaker Series guest Karen Chase, whose topic is Roosevelt’s early 1920’s winter seasons spent in pursuit of physical rehabilitation while cruising the Florida Keys on his houseboat, Larooco.
