Vacation Renters Help Locals During COVID 19 Crisis

Many of the vacation rental visitors that come to Key West really care about our island and its people. Sister Season Fund (SSF) witnessed that firsthand with the generous donations flowing into Key West to help Irma victims.  It was then that Craig & Cindy Tellerd came up with an idea to raffle off a week in one of their vacation properties in Key West. They did all the work, contacted their renters, sold the tickets, and collected the money.  The result was $5000 which SSF put to good use in rental and utility assistance for locals in need.

The COVID-19 crisis led Craig and Cindy to volunteer to help SSF with another vacation rental raffle.  This time they really ramped up their game.  Despite helping in their own communities, over 360 of their tenants participated, raising over $13,500 in just two weeks!  The Tellerd’s certainly demonstrated the meaning of “Locals Helping Locals”.

Julie Hanson, President of Sister Season Fund, stated, “We have already assisted over 220 households since COVID 19 closed our island, awarding almost 1/4 of million dollars in rental assistance.” “The Tellerd’s ingenuity, generosity and caring has made a serious impact on this effort.”
