UF HealthStreet town hall to address controversies surrounding opioid addiction treatment

WHAT: UF HealthStreet is hosting the 17th national Our Community, Our Health town hall meeting to discuss opioid use disorder, treatment options and bias faced by patients who use medication-assisted treatment during recovery. Sponsored by the department of epidemiology, which is housed in both the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions and the UF College of Medicine, an expert panel will discuss the current standard of care, associated outcomes of alternative treatments and the availability of FDA-approved medications for treating the disorder. Panelists will also examine the stigma associated with the disorder and bariers to treatment.
