Two people from Broward County, Florida were arrested Tuesday following a traffic stop in which nearly two pounds of marijuana and fake identification cards were found.

Cristhian Camilo Suescun-Santiago, 28, and Maria Paula Mesa-Aparicio, 24, were both charged with possession of counterfeit identification. Suescun-Santiago was also charged with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both suspects were in a Dodge Avenger when they were stopped near Mile Marker 54 at approximately 9:30 p.m. for an inoperable tag light and improperly mounted registration sticker. There was a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Suescun-Santiago stated there was marijuana in the vehicle.

Multiple jars, bags, and bins were found containing marijuana, including edible marijuana. The combined total weight was approximately 1.8 pounds. Two fake federal identification cards were found in Mesa-Aparicio’s purse.
