Two men cited for lobster violations

Two Gulf Breeze, Florida men were issued notice to appear in court citations on Sunday for each possessing 12 over-the-limit lobster and undersized lobster tails.

George Michael Holcomb, 62, and David Michael Anderson, 63, were both cited in the case.

Middle Keys Marine Deputy Wifredo Guerra observed a vessel near Mile Marker 62 dock by the shoreline. There were two people inside, later identified as Holcomb and Anderson. Deputy Guerra asked to inspect their catch after observing dive gear, lobster nets and tickle sticks.

Holcomb stated the men collectively caught 24 lobsters that day. A bucket in the boat contained 12 lobsters and 12 more were located in a cooler.

Further inspection of the cooler revealed eight lobster tails that both men stated were caught the previous day. Six of the eight tails were undersized.

The legal limit of lobsters is six per angler per day in Monroe County.
