Two Arrested on Drug Charges

On January 8th the Key West Police Department Alpha Nights Shift arrested Vincent Scardina, 36, and Jessica Rodriguez, 35, on several narcotics related charges.

Police stopped Scardina’s vehicle for traffic violations on the 400 block of White Street. Rodriguez was a passenger in the vehicle. K9 Dexter conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics.

Upon a search of Scardina, he was found to be in possession of 8.3 grams of fentanyl, 0.4 grams of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Scardina gave Rodriguez the narcotics and she then attempted to discard them during the investigation. Scardina and Rodriguez were taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Detention Center.

Scardina was charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence.

Rodriguez was charged with tampering with evidence.
