And my fellow Independents. While I have been such a smarty pants, knocking the Red and Blue hardliners, I have to say we None of the Above are far worse in the main way that counts: fielding any candidate at all. We have a ridiculous history of third-party candidates, and none recently.
With now being 45% of U.S. voters, we have a huge plurality over either Reds or Blues, almost a majority. We should be able to field a winning candidate like Dean chance, John Fedderman, or choose your favorite Republican disowned by Trump. But we don’t.
And it’s all our fault, both we voters and the candidates. None of the top red and blue candidates want to give up their lifetime benefits as party loyalists, and we voters slide back to our old party affiliations because, well, for most, they don’t really mean it.
Yes, most Independents really are just “leaning” one way or the other, but want to feel superior without really committing.
So this is not exactly an apology to all my red and blue friends I have been trashing these last two years. I’m just throwing ourselves into the guilty mess of responsibility for our broken republic.
