Mayor Danise “Deedee” Henriquez, the City Commission, and the City of Key West today commended retiring Historic Preservation Manager Enid Torregrosa-Silva for her dedicated service to the community.
Torregrosa-Silva joined the City staff in 2008. During her busy career with the City, she helped rewrite the Historic Preservation Guidelines, making them clear and accessible to uniform interpretation.
“The Key West historic district is the largest in the state and is critically important to ensure our history remains intact for future generations of locals and visitors to enjoy,” reads the commendation. “With a hug and kiss, Enid has assisted thousands of property owners, architects, and developers to implement their renovations and projects while ensuring that the fabric of the historic district remains intact.”
Torresgrosa-Silva, who is also the current President of the Key West Art and Historical Society, said that her role in Key West has been deeply satisfying.
In addition to the commendation by the City, County Commissioner Jim Scholl named she and her husband – Edwardo Silva – as Honorary Conchs.
“He’s the reason I’m here,” she said of her spouse.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Torregrosa-Silva and her husband are retiring to Spain.
