We may have just won the Iranian war.  Or not.  Ho-hum, who cares, as far as the mid-terms go.  What our politicians DO does not matter to voters.  They only care who their political leaders ARE.

Obama was the last President to be elected on love instead of hate.  68 million loved him more than McCain, who was not hated.  But 31 of that 68 million did not love what Obama did enough to keep him in power, staying home in 2010, giving the Reds all of Congress.  Obamacare, ending the recession, Nobel Peace prize, etc–ho-hum, who cares.

Thus it will be for Trump.  He won with the love Trump/hate Kamala being bigger than the Dems’ love Kamala/hate Trump balance.  Policy had nothing to do with it.  Now Trump has run the table: 51 million getting much higher tax refunds, trouncing Iran, making friends with the entire Middle East plus Pakistan, closing the border–to the Reds, it’s ho-hum, there’s a lot I can criticize, so I’ll stay home–for what’s there to hate about the Dems these days?

Whereas everything the Reds accomplish only riles up the Dems even more. Policy success in today’s American democracy has the perverse effect of angering the other side more than pleasing your own voters.

Just as the size of Trump’s rallies dwarfed Biden and Harris’s, so do the millions of No Kings marchers tell us all we need to know about the midterms.  Chatting about affordability and ICE just gives the pundits something much more smart-sounding and interesting to discuss rather than just embarrassing love-hate balances.  I just wonder how many of those millions of No Kings seniors did themselves NOT vote in 2010…..
