Three rescued after boat overturns

Three boaters from Miami were rescued Wednesday about two miles offshore after their vessel overturned.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is filing the report of the incident and investigating what caused the vessel to overturn.

Marine Deputy Willie Guerra was in a Sheriff’s Office vessel when he was informed of the incident at approximately 3:22 p.m.

Deputy Guerra found the boaters about two miles from Mile Marker 44 on the Seven Mile Bridge, Oceanside, near Molasses Key.

All three were uninjured and able to board Willie Guerra’s boat. They were staying at Sunshine Key RV Resort & Marina. Deputy Guerra returned them to Sunshine Key.

A tow company salvaged the approximately 19-foot vessel.
