Three arrested on drug charges

Three Miami-Dade County, Florida people were arrested Sunday on drug-related charges following a traffic stop on U.S. 1 in Key Largo.

  • Javier Mendez, 25, of Homestead, Florida, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, and violation of probation.
  • Oscar Rene Olivares, 23, of Miami, Florida, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
  • Cathlynn Calistra Rosalez, of Homestead, Florida, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

The Sheriff’s Office stopped a Ram pickup truck near Mile Marker 106 at approximately 3:35 p.m. with an expired registration. There was a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

Approximately 13 grams of marijuana, a half gram of methamphetamine, a scale, $748 in cash, and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia were found in the subsequent search.
