Theater Review / LILLIAN BAXTER IS BACK AT THE LITTLE ROOM!

SHOW DATES: DEC 26-31 2019

Fringe Theater invites you to the Little Room Jazz Club December 26-31 for An Evening Lost with Lillian Baxter.  This vintage memoir and musical revue retraces the musical steps that Lillian made during her long trek to obscurity!

It’s not surprising that people are wondering “Just who IS Lillian Baxter?”

The fictional Ms. Baxter began her career as a young starlet with MGM. She eventually was given her own TV show – unfortunately placed opposite Bonanza and Judy Garland’s TV show.

“Judy Garland is a bit of a sore subject for Lillian Baxter,” shares John Vessels (as though it’s an important secret).  John is the show’s writer and star. “Actually Judy Garland was the inspiration for Lillian Baxter. Her husbands, the hard hits, the comebacks. People of a certain age will recognize little nuggets of truth throughout the show.”

This is the third rendition of the Lillian Baxter saga. What’s new in Lillian’s Life? Her TV show has just been cancelled. What’s an “everything’s coming up roses” girl to do? Industrial musicals, game shows, sitcoms, and Broadway for a start! Lillian reminds us that what is lost can always be found.

The show is filled with beautiful music, arranged by Jay Schwandt who also plays piano for the show. In fact, Lillian belts out songs from stage, screen, and even your radio (assuming you’re of that certain age). Audiences will find themselves humming along with the more popular tunes, intrigued by the more obscured numbers, and entertained by the punch lines liberally spread throughout the show.

“You simply can’t miss this delightful comedy-cabaret-memoir of the greatest star nobody’s ever heard of,” says our theater critic and travel guide writer. John adds, “She never gives up no matter what life throws at her. She might mope, but she always picks herself up and carries on!”

An Evening Lost with Lillian Baxter runs Dec 26-31 at 7pm at the Little Room Jazz Club which is located at 821 Duval Street. Doors will open nightly at 6pm so patrons can enjoy the Little Room’s tasty menu and full bar. The Little Room’s music schedule resumes nightly at 9pm.
