Key West, FL – Acclaimed actor and playwright Mike Wiley brings history to life in two unforgettable evenings at the historic American Legion Post 168 in Bahama Village (803 Emma Street). Known for his spellbinding solo performances nationwide, Wiley transforms pivotal moments in the Civil Rights Movement into vibrant, deeply human stories—portraying dozens of characters with warmth, humor, and incredible energy.
Both evenings start at 6:00 PM with a community reception featuring complimentary food and a cash bar—an opportunity to meet friends, connect with neighbors, and soak in the atmosphere before the show. Performances begin at 7:00 PM.
· Tired Souls: King and The Montgomery Bus Boycott – Wednesday, April 8
Through a striking combination of live performance and historical imagery, Wiley immerses audiences in the courage of Rosa Parks and others and the city-wide boycott that changed history. The storytelling is intimate, moving, and incredibly dynamic, making history feel vivid and immediate.
· Breach of Peace – Thursday, April 9
Wiley honors the extraordinary bravery of Jean Thompson and other Freedom Riders, bringing their true stories to the stage with energy, empathy, and unforgettable theatricality. Audiences experience the tension, triumph, and humanity of those who risked everything for justice and equality.

“These evenings are more than performances—they are living, breathing stories that honor Black history and resilience,” said Arida Wright, Rose Diversity Group.
Mike Wiley is a truly remarkable storyteller, and this marks the third year he has partnered with The Studios of Key West to bring his work to the Key West community, inspiring audiences with his ability to make history come alive.
