The Sheriff’s Office honored at Best of Marathon Awards

Sheriff Rick Ramsay and Middle Keys Capt. Don Hiller were honored Saturday at the Best of Marathon awards held at Marathon Community Park.

Sheriff Ramsay was recognized as the Best Elected Official.

“I am truly humbled to be selected for this award and to serve this community,” said Sheriff Ramsay.

Capt. Don Hiller is the District Commander of the Marathon Substation and has been with the agency for more than 35 years. Capt. Hiller also serves as the President of the Pigeon Key Foundation, works as a mentor with Take Stock in Children and is involved in many other areas of the community.

Capt. Don Hiller received the Robin Tanner Public Service Award.

“This award is named for one of our beloved Deputies, Robin Tanner, who was killed in the line of duty on Dec. 13, 2007,” said Sheriff Ramsay.
