The Salvation Army hosts virtual fashion show competition to raise funds for Covid-19 relief in Miami

What: The Salvation Army of Miami will host a virtual fashion show to help raise funds for their COVID-19 relief efforts from May 11 – 17, 2020.  The fashion show will feature four talented local Miami designers who have accepted the challenge to design a Salvation Army tote bag: Asanyah Davidson of Circa 24 Forever, Colleen Coughlin of The Full Edit, Joanis Duran of Kalani and Wolf, and Claire Jean-Gilles of Gilles Corp. The public will vote for their favorite bag by making a donation to the designer’s fundraising team at www.SalvationArmyMiami.org.

The fundraiser will take place the week the organization, originally founded in England in 1865, celebrates its 140th year of “Doing the Most Good” in the United States. This week, known as National Salvation Army Week, is observed immediately following Mother’s Day in May and was first declared by  President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954.

The Salvation Army of Miami aims to raise $50,000 through this fundraising campaign.  All funds raised during the fashion show will go toward serving people in need in the Miami-Dade community through this pandemic.

Through the help of donors, volunteers, and community partners, The Salvation Army has provided more than 150,000 meals and 35,000 nights of shelter to men, women, and children in the Miami area in the past year.

The COVID-19 pandemic has not stopped The Salvation Army’s operations as they have continued to host drive-thru food distributions, organized delivery of essential products to the elderly, as well as provided emotional and spiritual care counseling.

The Salvation Army is relying on donors to help meet their fundraising goal and encourages everyone to visit  www.SalvationArmyMiami.org  throughout the week of May 11 – 17, 2020 to watch the virtual fashion show. Participants will then be able to vote for their favorite bag design by donating.
