Monroe County Detention Center is voluntarily seeking accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Corrections by demonstrating its compliance with nationally established standards.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is professionally accredited by five separate accreditation agencies:

  • The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA® The national law enforcement accreditation)
  • The American Correctional Association (national corrections accreditation)
  • The Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditations
  • The Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission
  • The National Commission on Correctional Health Care

The Sheriff’s Office is also a national Triple Crown Award winner regarding its accreditation status. The Triple Crown Award is given to Sheriff’s Offices which achieve simultaneous accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of the American Correctional Association, The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement (CALEA®) and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care.
