Store Volunteers Partner with ServiceSource to and Habitat For Humanity in a Celebration of Service Project to Help Restore Historic Florida Landmark
provide safe housing for local veterans

WHAT: On Friday, January 19, 2018 November 16, 2017 Team Depot ―,  The Home Depot’s associate-led volunteer force ―, will partner with Abilities, Inc. dba ServiceSource Florida, Habitat for Humanity Key West & Lower Florida Keys, and active-duty personnel from nearby military installations  to renovate portions of the 66-year-old American Legion Post 168, rendering it handicapped-accessible, safe, secure, and energy-efficient. transform two housing units in Crestview Villas, a gated apartment complex that provides rental units to Floridians and military veterans with disabilities classified as having low-income.

Volunteer projectss throughout the day to renovate and improve three American Legion Post 168 will housing units will include:

  • Repairing, fortifying, and reflooring the horseshoe-shaped mezzanine for handicapped-access
  • Prepping and painting stairways, railings, ceilings, walls, and doors
  • Demolition and preparation of housing units
  • Installing handicapped-accessible doorKitchen and bathroom renovationss
  • Refurbishing, outfitting, and securing a storage room for tools, equipment, and building materials   
  • Painting ceilings, walls, and doors
