Teen arrested for stealing car

A 16-year-old Key West teenager was arrested Thursday for stealing a car in Marathon.

Christian Alexcie Godoy was charged with grand theft auto.

The Dodge Charger SRT was reported stolen on Oct. 21, 2022 from the 4800 block of the Overseas Highway and it was found abandoned on the side of the Florida Turnpike in Martin County by the Florida Highway Patrol on Oct. 23, 2022.

The Sheriff’s Office found a video post on Instagram of Godoy driving the Charger and boasting about stealing it. Godoy is known to the Sheriff’s Office through previous contacts with law enforcement.

A warrant was obtained for Godoy’s arrest.
