Take Stock in Children Recognizes its Mentors

Take Stock in Children recognizes the dedication and commitment of its 300 volunteer mentors during National Mentoring Month. Each week, the team of TSIC mentors accumulate 225 hours of mentoring while meeting with their scholars on school campuses across the county for 45 minutes. That’s well over 6,000 hours during the school year, or over 40,000 hours during the middle and high school career of our scholars!

The Monroe County Education Foundation, which is the lead agency for the Take Stock in Children Monroe program, is hosting three mentor appreciation events during January. Beginning with the Key Largo and Islamorada on Tuesday, January 22 at the Florida Keys History & Discovery Center at the Islander Resort at 5:30pm. Next in Key West on Wednesday, January 23 at Salute! On The Beach at 5:30pm. And then in Marathon on Wednesday, January 30 at the Marathon Yacht Club at 5:30pm.

Past and current mentors are welcome to attend, as well as anyone who is interested in learning more about Take Stock in Children and mentoring. For more information about Take Stock in Children, please contact program coordinator Chuck Licis at 305-293-1546 or at [email protected].
