Take Stock in Children Now Accepting Scholarship Applications
KEY WEST, FL, August 19, 2016 – Take Stock in Children scholarship applications for the 2016-17 school year are now available in Monroe County middle and high schools. Students in grades 7 – 10 who meet the income and academic guidelines in grades 7 – 10 should apply for this unique college scholarship opportunity.
“This is an outstanding program that offers more than a college scholarship to qualified candidates. Our students are matched with a volunteer mentor and they participate in activities during middle and high school to help them succeed when they arrive at college.” explains TSIC program coordinator Chuck Licis.
TSIC students are expected to earn As and Bs (but no less than Cs) during each grading period, maintain good attendance and behavior, attend college-readiness workshops, and meet weekly with their mentor. Upon successful completion of the Take Stock in Children program, high school graduates receive a 4-year college scholarship which may be used at any Florida public college or university.
“Our TSIC graduates are pursuing their dreams and attending the Florida college or university of their choice,” said Licis, “We are helping our students earn a college degree and begin a career.”
Applications and information regarding the TSIC program are available by contacting Chuck Licis at 305-293-1546 or [email protected].
TSIC scholarship applications for the current year are due Friday, September 23, 2016. Return completed applications to the front office of each middle or high school or mail to Chuck Licis, Take Stock in Children, 241 Trumbo Road, Key West, FL 33040.
