Suspected Crack Dealer Arrested

Key West Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit last night took another suspected drug dealer off the street.

Sterling Elijah McCoy, 34, was arrested on outstanding warrants related to the sale of narcotics.

Patrol and K9 officers attempted a traffic stop on McCoy who tried to flee the area in his vehicle.  McCoy was eventually stopped and surrendered when K9 Dexter arrived.

McCoy sold some 24 grams of “cookies” of crack cocaine to undercover operatives. The crack cocaine had an estimated street value of $2400.

McCoy faces two charges of sale of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a municipal park as well as two charges for the unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony. In addition, McCoy was charged with fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer and possession of cocaine.

Mc Coy was transported to the Monroe County Detention Center.
