Suspect in marine theft pleads guilty

With all the talk about recent marine thefts, we would like to share with our followers a recent win for the criminal justice system in a marine related case:
 
A Homestead man who stole a boat, motor and trailer from Duck Key in 2015, recently pled guilty to grand theft in the case. 32 year old Carlos Davalos, owner of CBD Construction, Inc.. stole the boat from Duck Key in August of 2015. The boat was later recovered in Lehigh Acres, where it had been set on fire and destroyed.
 
Davalos is currently in the Monroe County jail. He was sentenced to six months in jail, followed by 54 months of probation. The court also ordered he pay restitution in the case to the victims as well as for the time and effort spent by the criminal justice system in investigating and prosecuting the case.
