Stock Island Studio Tours event on March 10th

Stock Island Studio Tours are a monthly happening throughout season with the next event occurring on Saturday, March 10th from 11-4:00. This is a great time to take a self guided tour of its galleries and artists’ studios.

There are a possibility of 7 stops with multiple artists and artisans at each location. Coming from Key West, stop in at the Noeker’s, Wood and Metal Art shop. You’ll no doubt find Tom and Deb in the midst of varying levels of shipbuilding and fabric works, their shop itself being a marvel to see. Traveling on, you have the opportunity to visit Bruce Yodanis’ slick and stunning studio which is home to his custom airbrush fine art. Next stop, “5700 studios” on 4th Ave. Home to Amanda Johnson, Pamela Kostmayer, AD Tinkam, CR Gray… stone masons, collage artists, painters, soap makers and stained glass artisans.

Back on 4th Ave you’ll go round ‘la curva’ and find the old dog track kennels, look for Tom Avery’s nicely carved Shipwright Artisan sign. He’s a painter, carver, boat builder and wife Mally is a wonderful painter. Off again and onto Shrimp Road, the Perry Hotel lobby is filled with an ever revolving art show.

Now it’s time to back track, because you’ll definitely want to see Collections Gallery and Washed UP Key West! Just down the dock from the Hogfish you’ll find the Lost Kitchen Supper Club, a speakeasy type club beckoning you to join. Upstairs of the club you’ll find Collections, Key West where you’ll be treated to the one woman show of Olga Manosalvas, a figurative painter with an insightful eye for color. But don’t stop there, go to the foot of Maloney Ave and explore Kasidy’s most creative wood-shop and gallery & Nick Soto’s jewelry studio extraordinare!

No matter what direction you travel, you’ll find Stock Island to be a creative nucleus not to be missed. This will be our second show of the season, our third and last will be Saturday, April 14th.
