Key West Lunch Group Supports Students’ Gun Control Initiatives; NO NRA!  Program Will Focus On Defeating “Candidates of Death”

The students who survived the recent attack at Stoneman Douglas High School are energizing a movement to try to convince our political leaders to change NRA-bought laws which have contributed to repeated mass murders in America. A group of retired men who lunch together every Friday have decided to try to help the students achieve their goal.

Our NO NRA! initiative endorses two policy objectives which we believe would make the most difference: (1) 100% background checks; (2) elimination of the sale, purchase and possession of assault weapons.

It is important to understand that, although neither of these objectives is in any way prohibited by the 2nd Amendment, they will never be adopted so long as NRA-bought legislators are in office.

We have therefore decided to work against the election of those who accept NRA funding, have high NRA ratings, or oppose the above-stated objectives. We are calling such legislators “Candidates of Death” and we will do what we can to mobilize voters not to elect such candidates in
November 2018 or ever again.

Our group – DUVAL (Delightfully Urbane Venerables At Lunch) – was founded in 2006 by a core group of friends interested in civil conversation with no political, religious or social restrictions. We have no official membership or rules. We are just a diverse group who enjoy each other’s company and views once a week at lunch.
