Speeding motorist arrested

A 25-year-old Fort Lauderdale man was arrested Thursday in a stolen Jeep after traveling 70 mph in a 25 mph zone in Key Colony Beach.

Elvis James Nader was charged with DUI, grand theft of a motor vehicle, speeding, resisting arrest and battery.

The Sheriff’s Office spotted the Jeep at approximately 11 p.m. and attempted to stop it on the Sadowski Causeway, but Nader continued speeding and ran a red light at U.S. 1 while turning left, southbound, onto the highway.

The Jeep was swerving all over the road before it turned left onto 107th Street and stopped.

Nader repeatedly resisted arrest by pulling away from Deputies. He also kicked Deputies who were attempting to restrain him.

The owner of the Jeep was with Nader earlier in the evening and stated Nader had been drinking and Nader did not have permission to take his vehicle.

Nader was taken to jail.

Motorist arrested for DUI

A 58-year-old Sugarloaf Key man found disoriented in a parked car on U.S. 1 was arrested Friday for DUI after it was discovered he had a blood alcohol content of .434.

The legal limit in Florida is .08.

Joseph Roland Parker was found by U.S. Navy personnel in the left, northbound lane in a parked Ford Mustang at approximately 1:13 a.m.

The Sheriff’s Office responded and found Parker unable to stand on his own or speak clearly. He was confused as to where he was and what time it was. He had watery, bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol.

He was taken to Lower Keys Medical Center due to the level of alcohol in his system and was later booked into jail.
