Special Meeting Called for Monday, Sept. 30 for Emergency Ordinance to Extend County Fuel Tax
MARATHON, FL – The Monroe County Board of County Commissioners will meet tomorrow, Monday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m. at Marathon Government Center in the second-floor chamber to discuss an emergency ordinance to extend the County’s fuel tax.
The purpose of the meeting is to consider the adoption of an emergency ordinance extending the local option 6-cent County fuel tax originally adopted by Ordinance 016-1989 for a period of 30 years. The fuel tax is distributed among unincorporated Monroe County and the five municipalities and raises about $1.38 million a year.
