Sheriff’s Office member arrested for insurance fraud
Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Corrections Lt. Patrick Livingston Major, 49, was arrested Wednesday for insurance fraud and leaving the scene of a crash with damage to unattended property related to an off-duty traffic crash that occurred in September.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Lt. Major was driving a Polaris Slingshot when he struck and damaged a traffic sign. The report states he left the scene without reporting the incident and lied to an insurance company about what happened.
Lt. Major is suspended without pay pending an Internal Affairs investigation
“I was disheartened to hear of this incident,” said Sheriff Rick Ramsay. “We will investigate it fully and take the appropriate action. As always, I will keep this community informed of significant events that occur in this agency, good and bad.”
Lt. Major works at the Plantation Key Jail. He has been employed by the Sheriff’s Office since Dec. 15, 1997.
Any additional questions should be directed to the Florida Highway Patrol.
