Sheriff’s Office and FWC respond to crocodile call

The Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and some good Samaritans helped a crocodile make its way back to the water Friday morning after it became trapped between the roadway along Venetian Boulevard in Islamorada and a fence line.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 7:10 a.m. of a crocodile that was trying to access a canal. Deputies and Officers feared the animal would run into traffic while it tried to find the water. The uninjured crocodile was released into nearby waters without incident or damage to property.
