Senator Marco Rubio to Host Senate Small Business Committee Field Hearing, 10/4, Marathon City Hall

MARATHON, FL – The U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, chaired by Senator Marco Rubio, will be holding a panel discussion regarding Florida’s Coastal Economy: Opportunities and Challenges in the Florida Keys on Friday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. at Marathon City Hall.

Guest panelist will include Monroe County Administrator Roman Gastesi, Monroe County Tourist Development Council Director of Marketing Stacey Mitchell, and World Angling, Inc CEO Will Benson.

The meeting goal is to examine the unique opportunities and challenges facing Florida’s coastal economy and small businesses in the Florida Keys. While the Florida Keys have a rich history of fishing, diving, and tourism, the chain also faces many challenges given its proximity to the mainland and vulnerabilities to hurricanes. This hearing will touch on these factors, including the impact environmental challenges have on local businesses, fishing, and tourism.
