School Threat a Suspected Swatting Call

Key West Police Department dispatch received a call at around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon. The male caller stated he was sitting in a car in front of Key West High School and was going to shoot people. Police responded and the high school and Horace O’Bryant School were put under lockdown.

The high school parking lot and all buildings were searched and cleared.

There is no reason to believe at this time that there was a suspect at the scene. The call appears to be a swatting call.

While police were responding to the possible threat, the school received information that a threat was sent via social media the night before. The post showed a threat to a student. Further information in social media inferred that a student on a bus coming from Coral Shores High School for a track and field event may be carrying a firearm.

The students were removed from the bus and no guns were found.

Both incidents are ongoing investigations.
