School District Hosts Community Forums for Superintendent Search
The Monroe County School District is seeking community input to assist in the search for a new Superintendent of Schools. Current Superintendent Theresa Axford will retire at the end of this school year. The School Board, with assistance from the Florida School Boards Association (FSBA), has begun a nationwide search for a new Superintendent.
The School Board is focused on finding an exemplary replacement who fits well with the diverse community of the Florida Keys. The entire process will be conducted county-wide, ensuring candidates become familiar with the county and allowing citizens from all areas to participate.
To facilitate this participation, the School District is hosting three community forum events where citizens can provide input as follows:
- The strengths of Monroe County School District
- The critical needs and challenges facing Monroe County School District
- The personal qualities and professional experience needed by the next Superintendent of Monroe County School District

- February 11th, 6 p.m. at Coral Shores High School Media Center
