SCHOOL BOARD OFFICIALS SCHEDULED TO WORKSHOP DRUG POSESSION POLICY 

WHO:   School Board Members, Executive Leadership Team, the Public, GEMs

WHAT: Board members plan to meet for a workshop, and a regular meeting. School district officials will workshop the current drug possession policy.  Board members initiated the discussion at the last board workshop when workshopping the drug testing policy.

Student leadership group, Keys to be the Change will present a special communications report to speak to past projects from the school year and future goals.

Superintendent Mark Porter is expected to give his report which will include to the most recent school safety and security updates. ”We are looking to implement and prioritize safety and security. There are tasks we are completing before the close of the school year in order to prepare for funding of mental health enhancements, school hardening, and safety officers for all of our campuses. One of the first steps of this process was identifying proactive measures to enhance mental health care. We look forward to partnering with the Guidance Care Center for these services in coordination with our school-based mental health personnel.”

County officials approved of the millage rate question for the community to vote to help fund for the August 28th ballot yesterday, leaving the door open for up to .0625 mills to be used to close a gap in funding exclusively for SROs and SSOs beginning January 1, 2019.

School Board Members plan to vote on the approval of the site work package from Ajax Building Corporation for the Stanley Switlik Elementary School project. This is the third school up for construction in the district five year plan so far. Construction is set to begin this summer.

Board Members will also vote on the approval of the 2017-2018 recommendations for the 2018-2019 school year, and the approval of 2018-2019 board meeting dates and locations.
