Ron Burd Re-elected CFFK Board Chair; Foundation Names New Officers

The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys (CFFK) is pleased to announce the reappointment of Ron Burd as Chair of its Board of Governors for 2019-20. Ron, who has served as Board Chair this past year, is a retired executive vice president of Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals and his entire career has been devoted to the leadership of nonprofit organizations.

“I’m honored to continue to play a leadership role in the Community Foundation’s important work,” says Ron. “We’ve had significant community accomplishments working together with our generous donors and vital nonprofit partners, and I look forward to expanding on that work with my fellow board members to build an even better future for our wonderful Keys.

In addition to Ron, the Community Foundation’s newly elected Executive Committee for 2019-20 is Will Langley (vice chair – development), Greg Oropeza (vice chair – grants), Lauretta “Retz” Reeves (vice chair – investment), Ann Reynolds (secretary), Ken Silverman (treasurer and vice chair – finance), and Rosi Ware (vice chair – marketing). Susanne Woods recently returned to the Board and will chair the Nominating Committee.

Chair Ron Burd’s distinguished career also included serving for 20 years as President and CEO of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, the country’s largest nonprofit provider of behavioral health services to children and adults. He is the founding Chair of the Child Mental Health Division of Child Welfare League of America. He currently serves on the Keys Advisory Board of Mote Marine Laboratory in Summerland Key. Ron is also a licensed Coast Guard Captain and avid swimming and sailing enthusiast. He joined the CFFK Board in 2015.

The Community Foundation serves the needs and philanthropic aims of donors who wish to better the Keys. For 23 years, CFFK has been encouraging philanthropy and matching these acts of caring to the community needs. CFFK and its funding partners have granted more than $29 million to the community since 1996 helping residents from Key West to Key Largo through grants to our local nonprofit partners, scholarships and program services. CFFK currently manages over 150 funds and endowments for individuals and other nonprofits throughout the Florida Keys.
