Rice Family Charitable Foundation Establishes Educational Fund for VNA/Hospice Nurses

One of Visiting Nurse and Hospice of the Florida Keys (VNA/Hospice) Campaign for Excellence funding initiatives is the launch of a Continuing and Advanced Education Fund for our professional and dedicated clinical team.

For many health conditions in the Keys, easy access to treatment is challenging due to the rural geography. VNA/Hospice has been staying ahead of these challenges by providing professional staff training in new medical treatments, post hospitalization care, as well as Palliative Care and advanced Wound Care certification. Advanced education has also included new procedures using the latest materials for chronic wound care treatment and protocols for IV cardiac management. The goal of VNA/Hospice is for our nurses to have access to the same knowledge available in Miami, New York, or any other metropolitan area. With the financial gap in reimbursements for cost of care from government and private pay insurances there is no room to help fund continuing and advanced clinical education.

Thanks to Ocean Reef residents Bill and Lynn Rice, along with their daughter Paige Rice, a registered nurse and previous employee of VNA/Hospice, The Rice Family Charitable Foundation made a generous $7,500 contribution to help establish the educational fund in hopes their gift will inspire additional philanthropic giving in support for our specialized patient home care programs and advanced medical training for the newest health care procedures.
