RED CROSS RESPONDS TO MULITPLE HOME FIRES

WITHIN THE LAST FIVE HOURS IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY

MIAMI (August 16, 2018) – Local American Red Cross volunteers responded to three home fires in Miami-Dade County today within the last five hours. The Greater Miami and The Keys Chapter assisted families in the following areas: Homestead, Hialeah and Brownsville.

Red Cross volunteers helped coordinate emergency aid for three families affected. Fire officials say a total of 11 people have been displaced by the blaze, including three children. The Red Cross is assessing the immediate emergency needs such as food, temporary lodging and clothing.

Red Cross volunteers on the scene were members of the chapter’s Disaster Action Team, a group of specially trained volunteers who respond to the scene of a local disaster when called upon at any time – day or night. Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by donations to the Red Cross.
