Reckless motorcyclist arrested

A 25-year-old motorcyclist from West Palm Beach, Florida was arrested Friday morning for fleeing from a Sheriff’s Office deputy.

German Sabin was charged with reckless driving and fleeing and eluding. Sabin was also cited for improper use of a lane, driving on the left side of a no passing zone, failure to head no passing zones and speeding.

Middle Keys Deputy Christopher Aguanno was on patrol on Grassy Key at 7:56 a.m. on U.S. 1 when he saw a northbound red and black sport bike pass vehicles using the center turn lane. Deputy Aguanno turned on his lights and siren and pulled his patrol car directly behind the sport bike. The driver of the sport bike, later identified as Sabin, was making gestures with his right hand at Deputy Aguanna. Sabin accelerated to 70 mph and behind pulling away from Deputy Aguanno. Deputy Aguanna passed identifying information to 911 Communications Specialists and then stopped his pursuit for safety reasons.

Upper Keys Deputy Nelson Sanchez also reported seeding the same sport bike passing in a no-passing zone at Mile Markers 83 and 84.

Upper Keys Deputy Jose Costoya spotted Sabin stuck in traffic in front of Coral Shores High School.

Sabin was taken to jail without further incident.
