PUBLIC NOTICE -EPA BROWNFIELDS CLEANUP GRANT PUBLIC MEETING
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, FORMER BALTUFF DUMP SITE, MIDDLE TORCH KEY
Habitat for Humanity of Key West and the Lower Keys (HFH) will be submitting a proposal for a Brownfields Cleanup Grant to the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) this fall to fund remediation of contamination at the former Baltuff Dump Site.
As part of the grant proposal preparation process, HFH is required to obtain public input on the cleanup and re-use of the Fomer Baltuff Dump Property. Accordingly, a Public Meeting will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 5:30 pm at the Monroe County Library, 213 Key Deer Blvd., Big Pine Key, Florida 33043.
The purpose of this Public Meeting is to:
- Develop an effective Community Relations Plan;
- Conduct a preliminary discussion of cleanup alternatives;
- Discussion of plans for disposition of the property after cleanup;
- Solicit community support for the Brownfields Cleanup Grant Proposal.
A second Public Meeting will be held at the end of October 2018 to discuss a draft Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives for the Former Baltuff Dump Site. A separate notice will be published regarding the exact date and time of the second Public Meeting.
