KEY WEST, Fla. – State Attorney Dennis Ward announced that Joshua Allen, a convicted narcotics trafficker originally arrested in connection with a 2013 Key West drug investigation, has been sentenced to four years and seven months in state prison after his probation was revoked by Circuit Judge Mark Jones.
Allen, who had been on probation following previous convictions for the sale and possession of controlled substances, repeatedly violated the terms of his supervision, including multiple failed drug tests and other violations of his probationary conditions. In court, Allen admitted to the violations and was adjudicated guilty. His probation was revoked and he was immediately remanded to state prison to begin serving his sentence.
The original 2013 case stemmed from a detailed Key West Police Department investigation into Oxycodone trafficking at the Porter Place Apartments on White Street. Officers conducting surveillance observed multiple hand-to-hand narcotics transactions and, through traffic stops and interviews, identified Allen as the primary supplier. The investigation led to the recovery of cash, prescription pills, and electronic evidence linking Allen to the sale of controlled substances.
Chief Assistant State Attorney Joseph Mansfield praised the strong prosecution and coordinated law enforcement efforts that brought Allen back before the court:
“This defendant was given every opportunity to change the course of his life and chose instead to continue down a path of crime and violence. The State Attorney’s Office will not tolerate individuals who repeatedly endanger our communities or defy the orders of the court. I want to thank Assistant State Attorney Michael Tetelman for his excellent work in securing this outcome and for his continued dedication to protecting the public alongside our law enforcement partners.”
State Attorney Dennis Ward also commended the Key West Police Department and SAO investigators, stating:
“Our justice system gives people the opportunity to change the direction of their lives and become positive contributors to their communities and to society. Unfortunately, Joshua Allen chose a different path. I want to thank the Key West Police Department for their continued commitment to our community and our investigators and prosecutors who worked tirelessly to ensure justice was served.”
Allen has been transported to state prison to begin serving his four-year and seven-month sentence.
