Poets and writers invited to participate in Tennessee Williams Birthday Celebration writing contests
In celebration of Tennessee Williams’s 110th birthday and the 10th anniversary of the Tennessee Williams Museum, the Key West Art & Historical Society invites poets and writers to submit original works for the 2021 Poetry and Short Story writing contests. The contest runs from January 20 to March 7. The writing competitions are components of the annual celebration held each March in honor of the Pulitzer Prize-winning literary icon that moved to Key West in 1949 and remained a resident for 34 years.
All poems and stories must reference Tennessee Williams, his family or characters from his numerous plays. Poets are invited to submit a 30-line or less poem and writers may submit a short story of 1,500 to 4,000 words. Winners will be selected by via a panel of professional, published writers and poets, with $400 awarded for first place and $200 for second place.
