Please do not call 911 to report fireworks

Please help us spread the message: The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office 911 line is intended for residents to report immediate emergencies, not to report the use of fireworks.

Every year, 911 Communicators receive hundreds of non-emergency fireworks calls, which inundate Deputies on patrol and impact response times on more serious calls.

Please only call 911 regarding fireworks if there is an immediate safety issue or injured person.

Note: A law signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis last year states that shooting fireworks is not a state crime.

Nonetheless, it’s best to leave the fireworks to professionals.

Have a safe and fun Fourth of July! Please help keep the Keys clean and safe for everyone.
