Ophthalmologist Rosenberg is providing options in Key West

BY TERRY SCHMIDA
Dr. Stanley Rosenberg, a highly qualified ophthalmologist based in Miami, is currently offering a range of services in the Florida Keys. In fact, during his regular trips to Monroe County, he’s the only game in town for patients seeking laser eye surgery for issues such as cataracts, and astigmatisms.
I started coming down here a couple of years ago,” Dr. Rosenberg said. “In Key West I partner with Dr. [Stephen] Oppenheimer, working with him at his office. Dr. Oppenheimer sees a lot of patients who are in need of cataract surgery, or have other eye other diseases, and he serves as my colleague in providing the best eye care possible. Lately, my practice has been picking up dramatically, as my services become better known.”
Dr. Rosenberg completed his undergraduate training at the State University of New York at Buffalo in May of 1969. He then graduated from medical school at Rutgers University in New Jersey in May of 1973, before attending post-graduate medical training in Internal Medicine in Miami, and Ophthalmology in Houston, Texas.
He holds board certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine, and American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has also authored many papers on medical subjects, and is the recipient of numerous awards and other recognitions for his work.
Though he has long practiced in Miami, both at his own private practice, and at such prestigious hospitals as the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, he has lately been spending more of his time in the Keys working with Dr. Oppenheimer’s clinic, at area hospitals such as the Lower Keys Medical Center, and Mariner’s Hospital in the Upper Keys, and his own satellite office in Tavernier.
Besides laser surgery, I’m also able to offer services such as multifocal implants, lasic, and refractive surgery,” Dr. Rosenbeg said. “As technology advances, we have to educate people about what their options are surgically. My job is to educate the patients so that they can make an informed decision about all kinds of issues, including glaucoma and macular degeneration.”
While Dr. Rosenberg is acclaimed for his skills as a surgeon, he’s happy to assist patients with a range of eye problems that don’t necessarily require surgery. Treatment options are always discussed with expert guidance to choose the medical path for the best outcome.
We offer the most advanced techniques possible and we’re happy to evaluate people for whatever kind of eye problems they have, and point them in the right direction,” he said. “I know my limitations, however. If I can’t do something I’ll send the patient to someone who can.”
Dr. Rosenberg takes “nearly all kinds” of insurance.
