NORMAN HANEY OF FLEET MANAGEMENT CELEBRATES 30 YEARS WITH MONROE COUNTY

MONROE COUNTY, FL – In 1992, Barry Bonds had just signed the single highest contract in MLB history, there were 25 listed websites on the World Wide Web, a gallon of gas was $1.13, the average price of a new car $16,950, and Norman Haney started his 30-year career with Monroe County in the Fleet Management department as an entry-level Paint and Auto Body Mechanic.

Haney now serves the Lower Keys as a Fleet Mechanic/Generator Technician but is also known around the shop as a painter, welder, fabricator, truck driver, and checks all of the boxes in safely servicing and repairing County vehicles and heavy equipment. He was Employee of the Month in June 1995 and Employee of the Year in 2011, cited for always taking pride in his work and helping Fleet Management be cost-effective and less dependent on outside services.

“Norman is an excellent employee and dedicated family man. He is hardworking and nonstop all day,” said Daryl Greenlee, Fleet Management Director. “Our department shows a lot of teamwork, and Norman is the heart of it. His peers respect him and often seek him out for the knowledge he brings to our department.”

Thank you, Norman, for your 30 years of dedicated service to Monroe County.
