New Community Foundation Fund Supports Lower Keys Nonprofits; First $25,000 of Donations Will Be Matched 1:1

The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys has created its first fund in 25 years of operation to specifically support Lower Keys area nonprofits to meet the needs of its residents. The new Lower Keys Future Fund will support nonprofits in underserved Lower Keys communities in all areas from the environment and education to healthcare and the arts, and more.

Contributions to the Lower Keys Future Fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Community Foundation, up to the first $25,000. A new Lower Keys Advisory Council comprised of community members is being appointed to help identify needs and potential grantees and provide input into the grant review.

All gifts to the new fund can be made online at cffk.org/lowerkeys. The Community Foundation also accepts gifts of stocks, bonds and mutual funds, contributions from life insurance and Individual Retirement Accounts, and other assets.

The Lower Keys Future Fund will specifically benefit nonprofits serving residents in areas including Big Pine Key, Sugarloaf Key, Cudjoe Key, and others, not including the city of Key West. Nonprofits in Key West receive significant support through the Community Foundation’s Future Fund, annual grant program, and numerous donor funds.

“The Community Foundation is committed to building a stronger presence throughout Monroe County,” said Jennifer McComb, President and CEO of the Community Foundation. “This is an incredible new opportunity for us to build a granting fund specifically to enhance areas in the Lower Keys for its residents and visitors. Gifts to the fund will be matched, doubling the impact of giving, assisting even more people, and helping meet community needs.”

Individual donors also have an opportunity to help residents and build a vibrant and sustainable future for the entire Keys by supporting the Community Foundation’s 25th Anniversary Fund. The fund is matching gifts dollar-for-dollar up to $500,000, thanks to a legacy gift from the late Dr. Patricia Major.

With the help of generous donors, the Community Foundation has provided over $31 million in total community grants and services since it was founded in 1996. Gifts to the 25th Anniversary Fund can be made at cffk.org/25.

More information on all funds is available at cffk.org or by calling 305-292-1502.
