Health Department Highly Encourages Second Dose of Pfizer and Moderna Vaccine for those Overdue

(Monroe County, Fla) – The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County highly encourages those who have not yet had their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to get it as soon as possible.

About eight percent of people in the US are overdue for their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.  To be considered fully vaccinated, two doses are needed.  The only available one-dose vaccine in the United States to be considered fully vaccinated is the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.  Residents and visitors are more protected from severe illness and hospitalization if they are fully vaccinated.
