NEW CHORUS IN TOWN TO PRESENT INAUGURAL CONCERT

Keys Choral Arts Jr (a special project sponsored by Keys Choral Arts) will present their inaugural concert on Saturday, May 17, 7 pm at Key West United Methodist Church, 600 Eaton St. The concert is free, with donations accepted and welcomed.

KCA Jr is the brainchild of KCA chorus member Lela Griffin, who is a graduating senior at the College of the Florida Keys High School, and a member of the KCA adult chorus. During the past year, the choral program at Key West High School was eliminated, leaving high school students with no opportunity to sing, learn, or perform choral music. Lela approached the Board of KCA asking for support and the Board agreed, as it fits into the organization’s mission statement of providing a musical education experience for both adults and teenagers.

Lela has done extensive fundraising, gathered singers, a director, and an accompanist.  KCA Jr is now ready to perform their first concert. Please come and support these young musicians. Some of the younger members of the adult chorus have added to the number of singers, to both encourage and support this venture.

Directed by Jordan Sommer, Music Director at Key West United Methodist Church. Accompaniment provided by Tim Peterson, Music Director at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Artistic Director of Keys Choral Arts.

Seating is limited. Reservations can be made at keyschoralarts.org and KCA Jr on Facebook. Please sign up as this helps plan for the reception following the concert.
