Monroe County, Fla.— National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is a nationwide community mobilization initiative observed each year on September 27.  It seeks to increase awareness of the disproportionate impact of HIV on men who have sex with men (MSM).  This awareness day also helps to build capacity, participation, and support for HIV prevention and treatment programs for gay, bisexual, and other MSM.

“Getting tested, linked to care, and treated for HIV can prevent new infections. The great news is that there are now many highly effective HIV prevention tools and treatment options.  One of the many tools offered this year includes a free virtual conference and all are welcome to attend,” said Lisset Ivey, Early Intervention Consultant for the HIV/AIDS Program at the Florida Department of Health in Monroe County.

In commemoration of National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NGMHAAD), September 27, 2021, the Florida Department of Health in Monroe County, in collaboration with Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Departments of Health, will be offering a free online Men’s Wellness Conference.
